How to lay a sturdy and low-maintenance patio with GeoCeramica: For tiles with a concrete base, such as GeoCeramica, a white sand bed is the ideal base. This provides a stable base, allowing you to lay a ceramic patio without a complicated process. Preparing the base For a patio or walkway, apply 10-15 cm of white sand. For a driveway, start with 15-20 cm of crushed rubble and place 5-10 cm of white sand on top. Calculate how much sand you need using the formula: width x length x desired height x 1.1. Compact the sand bed and level it with a straight edge. You can then place the tiles. Laying and grouting – GeoCeramica tiles are equipped with spacers, which automatically give you a joint of approximately 3 mm. – Make sure that the tiles are placed between edging strips so that they do not shift or sag. – Fill the joints with a joint mortar. This not only ensures a neat finish, but also makes the patio easy to maintain. Why use grout? A hard grout prevents weeds and ants from finding their way between the tiles, while rainwater can still pass through. This fits perfectly with the luxurious and sustainable character of ceramics. With this approach you create a sturdy, stylish and low-maintenance terrace!
How to maintain your ceramic paving High-pressure cleaner Ceramic is an extremely hard material, which means that a high-pressure cleaner will not damage the tiles. However, you will not need it very often, because ceramic tiles are naturally low-maintenance. Be careful with the joints: they can be more sensitive to the force of the water jet. Sweep regularly By sweeping regularly, you keep your paving clean and tidy. It is especially wise to remove leaves, because rotting leaves can release acids. Although ceramic tiles do not easily get stains from this, a clean patio always looks neater. Remove stains immediately Spilled during a barbecue? Rinse away grease or wine stains as quickly as possible with water. If necessary, use a little soap or washing-up liquid to remove grease residue. Avoid chemical agents, because they can damage the tiles or the surrounding area. Cleaning green deposits We recommend our green deposit cleaner Biomos for removing green deposits. This powerful product removes deposits without the need for scrubbing and is also safe for animals, plants and the environment. Avoid vinegar and aggressive cleaning agents Do not use vinegar or other chemical agents on your ceramic tiles. These can cause ugly stains and damage the surface. For example, vinegar can acidify the surface, which can cause problems in your garden. With these tips, your ceramic paving will continue to look beautiful and cared for for years!
